B J'S BABES Seeley Doll Studio Presents
German Antique Reproductions
We offer a wide variety of greenware for German dolls, each delightful in its own way. Some of the best-loved dolls are the German children dolls, made by such renowned firms as: The Heubach Brothers Co. made many German dolls, and they specialized in character faces. Character doll means the face was modeled after a real person. Earlier dolls represented idealized children instead of a real child. Most Heubach dolls were the dolly face type. The Kammer & Reinhardt Co. was in existence from 1886 until 1925 and it made K*R dolls. The company was most famous for its character dolls, especially the 100 series. Heads were made by Simon and Halbig for this series. The Kley and Hahn Co. was founded in 1902 by Albert Kley and Paul Hahn in Ohrdruf, Thuringia. They specialized in supplying the international market, in particular the U.S. market. It is most probable that Kley & Hahn purchased the heads, then painted and finished them. Paul Hahn died in 1922 and left Albert Kley the sole proprietor. The company was taken over by a manufacturer of doll clothes and decorated baskets, and finally disappeared from the scene around 1930. One of the largest and best known German doll manufacturers, Simon & Halbig made hundreds of different heads for many other doll companies. The company registered its first doll-head patent in 1879 and closed its doors in 1930.
